Maasai Mara National Reserve
Kenya's flagship wildlife reserve, world-famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration and exceptional Big Five predator densities.
Discovering Maasai Mara National Reserve
The Maasai Mara National Reserve is globally recognized as the jewel of African wildlife safari conservation. Situated in southwestern Kenya along the Great Rift Valley, the reserve covers over 1,510 square kilometers of sweeping open savannahs, rolling grasslands, and acacia-lined river valleys that seamlessly merge with Tanzania's Serengeti National Park to form the greatest contiguous wildlife ecosystem on Earth.
Between July and October each year, the reserve stages the magnificent Great Migration, where more than 1.5 million blue wildebeest, 300,000 zebras, and hundreds of thousands of gazelles brave treacherous river crossings fraught with Nile crocodiles in search of fresh grazing pastures. This spectacular movement attracts extraordinary densities of apex predators—prides of lions, elusive leopards, and swift cheetahs hunting across the golden plains.
A safari in the Maasai Mara offers peerless year-round game viewing, including all members of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino). Guests can enjoy sunrise hot-air balloon expeditions over the dawn savanna, private game drives guided by indigenous naturalist guides, and respectful cultural immersion visits to traditional Maasai manyatta homesteads.
