10 Days – Summiting Rwenzori to Magherita Peak

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Transfer to Hotel

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where our representative will greet you and assist with arrival formalities. Transfer to your hotel for a briefing on your safari. Depending on your arrival time, you may visit local craft villages or shopping malls.

Day 2: Leisure Transfer to Kasese

TDrive from Kampala to Kasese (6-8 hours), passing through Queen Elizabeth National Park. Stop for lunch en route and proceed to your hotel in Kasese.

Day 3: Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut (2,652m)

After breakfast, head to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park Headquarters for a briefing. Begin the hike through Bakonzo villages, then enter the forest zone, passing the Mubuku and Mahoma rivers. Reach Nyabitaba Hut for the night after 5-6 hours of hiking.

Day 4: Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut (3,414m)

Cross the Kurt Shaffer Bridge and ascend through bamboo forests. Continue to the Heather zone, where you'll see giant lobelias, red duikers, and white colobus monkeys. Reach John Matte Hut after 6-7 hours of hiking.

Day 5: John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut (3,962m)

Hike through boggy areas and alpine savannah, passing giant lobelias and wildflowers. If the weather permits, enjoy views of Mount Stanley, Baker, and Speke. Arrive at Bujuku Hut after 4-5 hours.

Day 6: Bujuku Hut to Elena Hut (4,541m)

Ascend through bogs and the scenic Groundsel Gully to Scott-Elliot Pass. Take a metal ladder over a steep section, then continue to Elena Hut. Enjoy views of Mount Speke Glacier and Margarita Peak.

Day 7: Elena Hut to Margherita Peak (5,109m) and Kitandara

For those aiming for Margherita Peak, the climb takes 5-7 hours through glaciers and rocky terrain. Afterward, descend to Kitandara Hut, enjoying views of Kitandara Lakes and the surrounding peaks.

Day 8: Kitandara Hut to Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261m)

Ascend steeply to Freshfield Pass (4,282m), offering views of Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north. Descend through bogs and rocky terrain to Guy Yeoman Hut, reaching it after 5-6 hours.

Day 9: Guy Yeoman Hut to Nyabitaba Hut (2,652m)

Descend through the Mubuku and Kichuchu river valleys, passing through heather and bamboo forests. Reach Nyabitaba Hut after 4-5 hours. Optionally, continue to Nyakalengija for a direct transfer to Kasese.

Overnight: Nyabitaba Hut or direct transfer to Nyakalengija

Day 10: Return to Kampala

Drive back to Kampala (6-8 hours) via Kasese-Fort Portal or Mbarara-Masaka roads, depending on your route, for your flight home.
